CSE Researchers Receive Awards at ICB 2018

CSE researchers received a number of awards at the recently concluded IAPR International Conference on Biometrics (ICB 2018) in Gold Coast, Australia. The conference also featured a keynote talk by Prof. Anil K. Jain titled "Fingermarks: Whodunnit?”

1. PhD student Vahid Mirjalili and Prof. Arun Ross received the Best Paper Award (Silver) for their paper titled "Semi-Adversarial Networks: Convolutional Autoencoders for Imparting Privacy to Face Images”. Other co-authors of the paper include Dr. Sebastian Raschka, a former PhD student in MSU’s Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, and Dr. Anoop Namboodiri, an Associate Professor at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India.

2. PhD student Denton Bobeldyk and Prof. Arun Ross received the Best Presentation Award for their paper titled "Predicting Eye Color from Near Infrared Iris Images”.

3. PhD student Yichun Shi and Prof. Anil K. Jain received an Honorable Mention Award for their paper titled "Improving Face Recognition by Exploring Local Features with Visual Attention”.
