About Me

My name is Jenna Sanocki, and I am a 5th year graduating senior at Michigan State University. I have a passion for technology and videogames, so I decided to double major in Computer Science and Media & Information with a minor in Game Design and Development.

Programming Experience

In terms of Computer Science, I have experience with a variety of programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. I also like to keep my code commented and organized.

Basic Intermediate Advanced
C# C C++
Python Java HTML
JSON JavaScript jQuery

In addition, I am familiar with Git, SVN, MySQL Workbench, WordPress, and the following IDEs: PhpStorm, Android Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, and Notepad++.

UPDATE: I recently took part in my first hackathon: MSU's SpartaHack 2016. It was a great experience, where I was able to meet students from other universities, learn about new APIs and technologies, and (of course) accumulate much swag. Best of all, my team and I ended up creating a very cool, nutrition-based Android app that placed us among the top 10 best hacks and won us the prize for the "Best Use of Wolfram Tech!"

Web Development Experience

I was first introduced to web development, when I took a class during my senior year that covered the basic and intermediate aspects of front end and back end web dev. Prior to that class, I had almost no web dev experience whatsoever, except for some very basic HTML and CSS. However, after learning more about the entire process and the languages involved, I really started to enjoy web dev.

When I was looking for a job the summer of my senior year, I came across an on-campus student web dev position, where I could practice and improve my skills, with the opportunity to continue working during the school year. The job seemed like a perfect fit for me, so I applied to and gladly accepted the position. I've been working at Matrix: Center for Digital Humanities & Social Sciences ever since.

Game Design Experience

As for game design, I use Unity and take on the role of Artist and Designer, working on both GUI and 3D models. Therefore, I spend most of my time in Adobe Photoshop and Maya working with 2D and 3D art. In terms of 3D art, I have more experience in basic modeling, UV mapping, texturing, and simple animation than I do in weight painting and rigging. On occasion, I will help choose the sound effects and music for the game, as well as assist in the programming of the GUI and sounds.

Interests and Hobbies

On a more personal (and probably more interesting) note, I love K-Pop! For those of you who don't know, that's Korean Pop music; for those of you who do know, 4Minute is my favorite group!!! I also really like 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls, Sistar, Ailee, Block B, IU, EXID, AOA, VIXX, EvoL, HISTORY, BTS, MAMAMOO, and TWICE!

Other than listening to K-Pop, I enjoy drawing, playing badminton, making pottery, playing violin, and spending time with my family. My favorite videogame series are Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Zelda, and Ratchet & Clank. I also like to read manga and watch anime, like Naruto, Death Note, Rurouni Kenshin, and Cowboy Bebop.
